Castlebar Environs Scheme awarded to Veolia Water

September 17 2008: Veolia Water Ireland and Mayo County Council have signed the contract for the Design, Build and Operation of Castlebar Wastewater Treatment Plant expansion and ancilliary works

The contract is for a period of 22 years. The project scope includes the plant upgrade from an existing 20,000 population equivalent (PE) wastewater treatment plant to a 35,000 PE plant, including a 25,000 PE municipal stream and a 10,000 PE industrial stream.

The completed scheme will provide a modern sewage collection and treatment system capable of meeting the expanding needs of Castlebar and its environs well into the future.It will also eliminate pollution of the Castlebar River and enable the sustainable development of residential and commercial sectors.
